Description

    In this role, you will be responsible for helping with the management of our office and providing support to our Top 100, Eluta.ca and conference projects. Events Assistant

Our established Toronto­-based publishing firm is currently recruiting a full­-time Events Assistant to assist with a variety of duties related to our conferences and events, which include Canada’s largest annual conference for senior-level HR decision-makers, organized around the Canada’s Top 100 Employers project.

Description

    In this role, you will be responsible for providing support for a series of annual blue­-chip receptions and events across the country, including our large Canada's Top 100 Employers conference. This includes but is not limited to assisting with logistical support for events, responding to routine inquiries, and other related duties as assigned.     Our established Toronto based publishing firm is currently recruiting a summer intern (40 hours/week, for 15 weeks from May to August) to help with various tasks related to our Canada's Top 100 Employers competition. Now in its 20th year, the Canada's Top 100 Employers project is one of the country's best- known editorial competitions, raising the bar for employers to create more progressive HR policies and better workplaces. This is a paid internship position, but there may be opportunities for part­ time employment during the school year or for full­ time employment after graduation.

    Founded in 1992, Mediacorp Canada Inc. is the nation's largest publisher of employment-­related periodicals. Our company operates the popular Eluta.ca search engine, which was used by almost 8 million Canadians last year. Mediacorp also manages the Canada's Top 100 Employers competition, an annual editorial project that includes 19 other regional and special­ interest competitions. We manage the Top Employer Summit, Canada's largest annual conference for senior ­level HR decision makers.

Qualifications

Ideally, you have the following qualifications:

  • you are a current student currently enrolled in an arts or sciences program;
  • you are highly organized and have a passion for accuracy;

Our company operates the popular Eluta.ca search engine, which was used by almost 8 over million Canadians last year. Mediacorp also manages the Canada's Top 100 Employers competition, an annual editorial project that includes 19 other regional and special interest competitions. We manage the Top Employer Summit, which is Canada's largest annual conference for senior-level HR decision- makers.

    We are currently seeking a Junior Graphic Designer to work in-office, with the following responsibilities:

    • Work with our team to lay out publications, develop new designs for print materials for publications, and marketing and promotional materials.
    • Balance simultaneous design projects, some of which will be subject to scheduling and priority changes under tight deadlines.
    • Manage quality of photos being published both in print and online; assist with imagery and design for social media

Qualifications
  • Highly skilled in Adobe Creative software, including: Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
  • 1-3 years' experience in both print and online design
  • A university or college degree, or diploma in graphic design
  • A strong portfolio that includes print materials such as publications, books, brochures
  • Highly skilled in design and layout
  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively; good command of written English spelling and grammar

In addition to finding new employers to cover, you will designate appropriate employer websites for automated indexing and be responsible for quality control on the content of jobs on our site.

Qualifications
  • Ideally, you are a recent graduate from an Arts or Sciences program.
  • Highly organized and have a passion for accuracy.
  • Personable, work well with others and can take responsibility for meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent written and spoken English, including above average keyboarding skills (please indicate words per minute in your cover letter).
